There were several impacts on the attack on Fort Sumter. Starting with the major effect that it was the wake of the American Civil War. Afterwards, numerous amount of states seceded from the Union, which made the Confederacy have a total of 11 states. Then, northerners were outraged by the fact that Fort Sumter was attacked and as well as Major Robert Anderson, so a massive rally in New York Union Square occurred April 20, 1861 having the citizens use the fort's flag to lead them. The fourth effect is that southerners emotions ran high, and the soldiers that fired the cannons were considered heroes having the Confederate government prepare for war and recruiting an new army. The action upon Fort Sumter symbolized lots of the vast, intense feelings converting the nation to have a bloody 4 year war.
