The Beginning Of The Beginning of The Civil War
Once South Carolina seceded from the Union December 20, 1860 Major Robert Anderson and his 85 men were positioned at Fort Moultrie near Charleston Harbor. Later on December 26, Anderson feared the safety of his men, so he transferred to Fort Sumter while politicians and military soldiers wrote and debated about the legality and appropriateness of his provocative choice. Soon, Anderson's position became questionable doubting. Then, on March 4, 1861, after Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated, the Confederate's patience on foreign force in their territory was wearing thin, and the food supply in the fort was downgraded to 6 weeks left.
